About Ransack

Ransack is a card game where players become crafty thieves trying to escape a dungeon with the most treasure. Use your cards to dodge monsters, steal from rival thieves, and scheme your way to victory.

Every round is a tense gamble — hoard too long and a Goblin ambush drains your fortune. Strike too early and another thief pockets your gold. The thief with the greatest wealth when the dust settles wins.

90 illustrated medieval-fantasy cards: weapons, cunning objects, monsters, and double-sided Treasure cards. Fast setup, easy to learn — great for families, game nights, and anyone who loves a little friendly betrayal.

How It's Played

💰

Grab Treasure

All players split the treasure equally at the start. Use action cards to steal more from rivals, defend what's yours, or lose it all to a well-timed attack.

Play Action Cards

Use green weapon cards to attack, blue cards to defend, and cunning objects to outsmart rivals. Every card type has its own strategic role.

👾

Face Monsters

Monsters block your path and steal your treasure if you can't defeat them. Other players can even drop higher-level monsters on you.

🏆

Escape & Win

When the deck runs out, the final round begins. The thief who escapes with the most treasure wins. No second chances — every decision counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a player have 2 or more monsters in front of them?

No, each player can only have one (1) monster in front at a time. However, other players can place monsters of a higher level than the one you already have — the new monster replaces the current one, and the replaced monster goes to the discard pile.

When does a monster steal my treasure?

At the end of your turn. If you have no more actions to use cards and you still can't defeat the monster in front of you, it steals your treasure when your turn ends.

Can I block green weapon attacks with any blue card?

No. The actions each card can perform are written in their text. Specifically, defending against green cards can only be done with blue cards whose text is accompanied by the ⚡ symbol.

Can I block a green weapon with another green weapon?

No. Green weapons are attack cards only. Defending against green weapon attacks can only be done with specific blue cards — look for the ⚡ symbol in the card text.

Can I stack weapons to make a stronger attack?

No. Each action is resolved separately — you cannot combine card values. Play one card, resolve its effect, then play the next.

If it's the last round and an action sends a card to the deck, does the round restart?

No. During the last round, any cards that would go back into the deck are discarded instead — there is no longer a deck to return them to.

Can I play Ransack with more than 6 people?

Yes! For large groups, grab 2 copies of Ransack and up to 12 people can play. The one rule change: only use one set of level 3 monsters — randomly draw 6 of the 8 level-three monsters and shuffle them into the deck. The remaining 2 stay hidden outside the game.

Can only 2 people play Ransack?

We don't recommend it. In a two-person match, the basic rules can leave the game very unbalanced, which wouldn't be fun for either player. Ransack shines with 3–6 players.
